October is here! We hope your costumes are starting to come together as we head into spooky season! Witches and liches alike have begun to descend on The Workshop as we prepare for Halloween ourselves. As part of that, we are hosting volunteer parties on October 10th and 24th to decorate the shop as well as paint and build set pieces for Titmouse Foundation's Dirty20 event in November (more on this in next month's newsletter). Speaking of November, we are also going to be listing Thanksgiving Camp on the website any day now if it isn't up already! Be sure to go grab your spot if you haven't already.

But enough about November! We have plenty to be excited about this October, including Intro to: Call of Cthulhu! We are inviting investigators ages 13 and up to learn how to play the game and dive headfirst into the world of cosmic horror. We are super excited to announce that this event is being put on in partnership with Chaosium, the creators of the game, as well as the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society, who will be sending professional "Keepers" to teach us how to play. We have a ton of awesome adventures to give away to all who come. See you there!

Negotiations with the Greywarden of Blackwood Gulch have started to break down. Ever since news got out about the… “incident” at the fertilizer plant, they’ve been less than happy with our fine settlement. Now we hear whispers of spies, soldiers, & a mounting offensive against us. We need a group of adventurers to make their way there & cause some havoc in their ranks — discreetly. Get in, cause as much chaos as you can, & leave quickly — the more damage you do, the better you’ll be paid. Now, get out there & have fun*!

*Fun is optional, & will not be factored into your payment.

A Fallow Bargain

Memo: Richton Resurrection Site 87548-C

From: Ranjen Fusk

To: Management Team

Re: Staff Morale

This will be day 93 of sending memos up the chain. Ninety-three days since I first told you that people were having odd conversations by themselves. Sixty-four days since the signs began appearing on the barracks walls. Fifty-seven days since the first suspected missing laborer, twenty-eight days since the second, and four days since I submitted my resignation. I have yet to hear back, so I hereby presume that it is accepted. Tomorrow will be my last day, and the last memo that I write to the pile of previous memos that I assume are sitting somewhere.

They’re not coming back correctly. Oh, they smile and are thankful for the return to the world and all, but something’s different. I’ve seen some back from the Dolphins, and they seem right and proper returned. But those that we’re bringing back, it’s like something’s come with ‘em. I’ve made my warnings. I’ve paid my time, and I’m out of this pit of lunacy. You’ll find my company-issued gear in my locker. I’ll be on the boat back to the mainland tomorrow night.

So reads the memo set upon the desk of the Inspector as she looks at you with a wary eye. “No one’s seen Ranjen Fusk since. In fact, no one’s ever seen Ranjen Fusk, as they don’t seem to exist. No one’s ever heard of them, name’s not listed on any report before or since this one. But there was a locker full of Richton equipment, used, with a name badge stating Ranjen Fusk right on top. Find out who’s behind the prank and put an end to it, if you would. Quietly.
