April 16th and 19th

WEEKLY SWORD FIGHTING CLASSES

Wednesdays 3:00-4:00
Saturdays 1:00-2:00
$40/session billed monthly at $160/mo

We are beyond extremely excited to debut our unique approach to getting kids outside and exercising with our brand-new Weekly Sword Fighting Classes!

Not everyone is drawn to the typical team sports such as Baseball, Soccer, Football and the like. Team sports are great, but for some it might be too much pressure, or they're not as comfortable exercising in front of others for their own reasons. But exercise is an important part of being a healthy person, so we wanted to try a different approach - we are thinking of this as our story based athletics program. And we're starting with sword fighting!

We use rubberized foam swords and shields, like these:

**NOTE: We have realized that the velcro straps on the shields are not 100% effective (they detach frequently during bouts), so we are in the process of attaching buckles to all of our shields.

Each sword fighting class will be an hour long. During this time we will warm up for about 15 minutes, run drills for 20-30 minutes, then spar for the remaining time. All sword fighting classes will meet at The Hero Workshop, then walk to a nearby park (Coombs or Vets, depending on availability).

The Hero Workshop will provide swords and shields for every participant to use during the class, and we have some bike helmets that we can loan out for basic training. For sparring and matches, we will be recommending a martial arts helmet like the one pictured here.

Swords, Shields, and Helmets will be available for sale in our store. We are looking forward to seeing how everyone customizes their gear!

April 19th

Busy Buds Begins!

Busy Buds is a brand new program offered by Jenna Thomas for the younger ones age 18 months - 4 years. We are very happy to be hosting this program at The Hero Workshop, as we have always wanted to be able to provide an option for some of our hero's younger siblings.

You can learn all about Busy Buds here:
