Here is what is happening this month at The Hero Workshop:

Our annual Back 2 School Celebration will take place on Saturday, September 6th from 4:00-8:00pm. Come hang out with other heroes from our community, play some games, and maybe even win a prize! No cost to attend, but some activities are available that will cost some money to participate in (namely the raffle, and Kill it, Keep it).
Game Relay
cost = FREE!
We will be offering 4 different game system "appetizers" for you to sample. Daggerheart, Kids on Bikes, Monster of the Week, and Dungeons and Dragons. Participants get a games passport, and if you fill it up with all 4 stamps - you get a prize!
*each game should take about 10-15 minutes*
Kill it, Keep it
cost = $10
Kill it, Keep it is a game where you and up to 7 other heroes battle against a Vile Foe. You will die many, many times - but each trip to Valhalla will leave you stronger for the next attempt! Whosoever lands the killing blow against the Vile Foe gets to keep the mini!
*Kill it, Keep it takes about 90 minutes*
Raffle
cost = $5/ticket
Raffle will be drawn at 8:00pm.
You do not have to be present to win.
Raffle prizes include:
Dungeons and Dragons sourcebooks ($150 value)
d20 backpack ($50 value)
Holey Moley prize package (mini golf and karaoke for the family - $150+ value)
Swordplay kit (1 shield and 2 swords - $100 value)

Magic Draft: New Capenna

A Draft is a great way to learn Magic: the Gathering, and enjoy the game with new challengers if you are a veteran player.
The way a Draft works is, each player receives 3 booster packs of cards (included with the price of admission). Everyone sits around a table, and opens the first pack. You take what you think might be the best card from the pack, then pass the rest of your cards to the right. The player to your left will give you the cards from the pack they opened, and you will get to pick your favorite card from that, and then pass it along. This continues until all the cards from the 3 booster packs that each player received are claimed. Then, combat begins!
The top player will receive a Box Topper (super special card that you can only get from winning a draft (or, I guess - buying one from a winner on E-Bay)). For each of our drafts held in September, October, and November we will also reward the top 4 players with priority placement in December's CHAOS DRAFT, where participants will compete for some top tier prizes!

Daggerheart is the newest Tabletop Role Playing Game released in May of 2025 by Darrington Press. The game flew off the shelves, and in fact you cannot find it anywhere to buy - even Darrington Press is sold out until at least October!
But fear not! We have a couple copies at our shop, and we are actively forming new groups! If you are curious about Daggerheart, or would love to learn how to play a new game, we are hosting a FREE evening for people to come, learn the game, make your Daggerheart character, and if you're ready - meet up with fellow adventurers and start a Daggerheart group of your own.
